If you’re someone who ends the day worried about battery percentage, the latest leaks about the iPhone 18 Pro Max should make you happy. A leaked battery-pack photo has given us our first real look at what Apple might be packing this year.
The headline number
The leak points to a 5,391mAh battery for the U.S. version of the iPhone 18 Pro Max — about 12% larger than the 5,088mAh cell in the iPhone 17 Pro Max. That’s a jump of roughly 303mAh, which should translate into meaningfully longer streaming and gaming sessions.
Why the China version is different
Interestingly, the version expected for China is rumoured to carry an even larger 5,567mAh battery. The gap comes down to hardware, not favouritism: the U.S. model still needs to make room for a physical SIM tray, while eSIM-only markets can dedicate that space to battery instead.
Three generations, side by side
| iPhone 16 Pro Max | 4,685 mAh (U.S.) |
| iPhone 17 Pro Max | 5,088 mAh (U.S.) |
| iPhone 18 Pro Max (rumoured) | 5,567 mAh (U.S.) |
What about the smaller Pro model?
Leaks suggest the standard iPhone 18 Pro won’t see the same jump, which would make the Pro Max the clear pick for anyone who leans on their phone heavily throughout the day.
