Foldable phones have been a Samsung and Google playground for years — but the latest round of leaks suggests Apple is finally ready to join in, with a device being referred to as the “iPhone Duo.”
One phone, two screens
The idea is simple on paper: a compact 5.4-inch outer display for quick, one-handed use, and a 7.6-inch inner OLED screen that opens up into a small tablet. Both panels are rumoured to support 120Hz ProMotion, Always-On display, and outdoor brightness up to 3000 nits — with the inner screen using an under-display camera to keep the front completely uninterrupted.
Titanium build, folded and unfolded
Unfolded, the device is rumoured to measure about 6.48 × 4.64 × 0.21 inches and weigh 254g; folded, it shrinks to roughly 3.31 × 4.64 × 0.44 inches. Ceramic Shield 2 up front, ceramic protection on the back, and IP68 water resistance round out the durability story.
Power under the hood
An A20 Pro chip is expected to drive the whole experience — 6 CPU cores, a 7-core GPU with Neural Accelerators for hardware-accelerated ray tracing, and a dual 16-core Neural Engine for on-device AI tasks.
Cameras built around folding
A dual 48MP rear camera system (main + ultra-wide) is rumoured, alongside a “Duo Preview” mode that’s said to take advantage of the dual screens — letting the outer display act as a viewfinder for subjects while you shoot with the main cameras.
Battery and charging
Two internal batteries are rumoured to deliver up to 24 hours of typical use, with fast charging reaching 50% in about 20 minutes on a 60W+ charger, or 30 minutes over MagSafe.
Touch ID makes a comeback
A side-button fingerprint sensor is expected to return, usable whether the phone is folded or unfolded — handy given there’s no obvious place for Face ID hardware in a folding design.
Connectivity
5G (sub-6GHz and mmWave), Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and USB-C with 10Gb/s USB 3 transfer speeds are all rumoured, alongside eSIM-only support for two active lines and storage options from 256GB up to 2TB.
If even half of this turns out to be accurate, it would be Apple’s most significant hardware shift in years. As always, we’ll bring you confirmed specs and local pricing the moment Apple makes it official.
